Poem

I always hated lingering
and I always hated bits.
That's why I felt so
deeply in the abstract:
this way I possessed you
so completely, and in that
consciousness was how
I found my sense of self

or at least a self through sense,
which arrived as though
a paradox; I played with
how you think I lie
when selfishly I told a truth
already half forgotten.

All my text is subtext
so I'd lie if I were honest
but how else are you to see me?
I wish that you could read me.
